I have an uncle whose entire family (all 5 children and all 128736473 of their children.....no, they don't really have that many, but it's not like they didn't try) are true Southern Baptists. Missionary work in Cambodia, Russia, and other hedonistic places around the world, etc. My grandmother and grandfather on my mother's side were all about church every Sunday, but my grandmother had a temper from hell and she wasn't very nice to people. I loved her dearly, but there it is. Another side of the family has underage pregnancy, fist fights, jail time, alcoholism, drug use, and so on. Oh but wait, they all go to church, so they're ok. My older brother and his wife are some of the nastiest people you'll ever meet once you dare to cross them, but up until then they are all about showing you how magnanimous they are. And they will be sure to tell you all about their church. I just have to laugh at the notion of all of these holier than thou zealots that "it doesn't really matter how nasty I am to people, how intolerant I am of others, how judgmental I am, or how I pick and choose what to follow as far as what the Bible teaches......I'm gonna be just fine and have a special place in Heaven at the right hand of God because I go to church EVERY Sunday." What complete, hypocritical bullshit. One Blunt Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17813266122204660695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8675432104465049956.post-61196556650949172092013-07-22T01:27:33.449-05:002013-07-22T01:27:33.449-05:00I love this post! So as not to piss off the in-laws, my mother made us go. I hated every single second of it!! My mother never pushed her beliefs down our throat but would tell us what she thought if we asked which was: I do not believe in God. I do not believe in the Bible. I do not believe that you have to go to church and give someone money so that you will be accepted into heaven and will not go to hell. I do believe that if you are a good person and are good to others, if there is a God, he should be accepting of that fact. In turn, we are teaching our own children the same exact thing. We have decided when they are old enough to really understand what it's all about, then and only then will we take them to church or bible study, etc. if they so chose to do so. A young mind can be very impressionable. I will NOT fill their heads with garbage stories from the Bible and tell them they will burn in hell because they didn't go to Sunday school their entire childhood!
Thanks for letting me get that off my chest. When I post things such as this on my personal page, it just becomes a big ridiculous mess.
Meccala (from Pass the Wine, Mommy's Out of Sedatives) ;)Pass The Wine, Mommy's Out Of Sedativeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16484519392263277058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8675432104465049956.post-85481219367930615112013-07-21T21:31:17.359-05:002013-07-21T21:31:17.359-05:00Please do! I plan to share this on my FB page, and I may save the link so that I can share it with all the "Christian" wackadoodles who think that as long as they pray, read the Bible, and tithe, they are morally superior to the rest of us.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08286112889419839739noreply@blogger.com
